Do Haters Motivate or Paralyze You?

I am one of the most optimistic people you will ever find. I truly try to find the best in all people. You know what I have learned though? Some people are jerks.

haters

There have been and always will be negative people who will try to knock you down. Sometimes I feel these people exist just for that one sole purpose.

You can call these type of people all kinds of names: Doubters, distractors, critics, etc. For the sake of this post, they will all be grouped into one name……HATERS.

Sometimes haters can be good people who are having a bad day. I am sure I have been a hater now and then. We all have been.

Someone is having a proud moment, a good day, achieve some success and what do haters say? “No big deal, I could have done that, you got lucky.” What a letdown.

Now with the internet, discussion boards, and social media, haters now seem to crawl out of every hole imaginable. It’s one thing to be negative in person or even on the phone, but being online gives enough anonymity that haters can really let loose.

Let me ask you a really important question.

Do haters motivate or paralyze you?

This is a question that I think anyone who wants to achieve a high level of success will struggle with.

You can’t change the hater, but you can change your response.

You really only have a couple choices when you deal with haters.

  1. You can choose to hold your head up high with your chest out and say, “I really don’t care what you think. I believe in what I am doing.”
  2. You can curl up into a little ball that just had all the air let out and quit.

I think your choice will primarily be determined by your purpose and passion.

You “why” must be so strong that no hater can ever deter you.

You much have so much conviction, pride, and determination from the start that whatever you are pursuing is greater than anything or anyone.

If what you are doing is meaningful it means you are making a change and a difference. Otherwise, you wouldn’t go through the hassle.

Haters don’t like change.

Haters don’t like others success.

Haters don’t like other people winning.

Your challenge

Believe in your cause (your why) so passionately that haters will become almost invisible.

You need to develop tunnel vision to your purpose. No one can stand in the way of your goal. It’s too important.

Think about the greatest sports champions; Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods.

They have one single focus. To win. There could be 100,000 people in a stadium hoping they fail, but that will not stop them.

Why would you let just one or two haters stop you?

You can’t.

Remember, your cause is too important.
